About Me
“Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.”
So I decided to update this profile a bit, based mostly on my early experience on this site so far. Let me say for the record that I do not look at the guy profile, but I have a good friend using POF and I hear stories. On the female side of the ledger, my impression has been that there are a lot of bitter people out there (particularly in the DC metro area profiles). Is it because we are in such a passive aggressive town that the "PROFILE" is the best way to exercise the aggressive? Is it because men are such complete deviants that they have corrupted perfectly innocent romantic young ladies? Quite frankly, sex, life and dating are far less fun without a few deviants... or, is it that there are just real crazy people out there? Probably some combination.
I am in a phase of renewal now, I have worked in the government and in business and now I am looking for a new career. I am a musician.. and a dreamer. In the short term, I would like to have some fun and moving forward, lets see. My family is originally from the Virgin Islands (that race question is always such a strange one... I mean I am black, but perhaps more Caribbean American than African American... different food, different culture... oh labels) , I am from NJ and have lived in DC for 15 years.
What I'm Looking For
What I like about the theory of online dating, is that I can meet people, and not be limited by geography, race, politics, etc. It is like stumbling into a bar when you are traveling.. You have no sense of who the regulars are.
One more thing, life has not beat my idealism, romance (should I throw sex drive on this list???), creativity, optimism or drive out of me. To borrow a final quote "Some men see things as they are and say why. I dream things that never were and say why not". So I am here, checking in ... why not?
