About Me

I like reading, writing, music, singing, karaoke, walking, cooking, wine, port, coffee in any form, dark chocolate, tea, egg creams, soup, Rotary, synagogue, volunteering, theater, farmers markets, dining out, sushi, politics.

I'm New York born and bred and was brought up to believe that doing well and doing good are not separate ideas but in fact inseparable. This belief has always guided my professional and personal actions, and it drives my strong dedication to community, charity and family. I have three children who live with me more than half of the time and they are the most important people in my life (did that stop you reading?) except for that one special person I'm still searching for. I choose to believe that chivalry isn't dead, and that it's still permissible and appropriate to hold open a door, offer your arm, or pull out and push in a chair for a lady. I live and breathe music, art, books, the cinema and theater. Fair warning is given that I am known to quote movies and song lyrics at the drop of a hat and even to break out in song spontaneously.

I love to cook (no, not just quiche). Blame it on my upbringing. I was the youngest in the family, including my cousins, and essentially grew up in the kitchen with my mother, my aunt and my grandmother. Every holiday was a cacophony of sights, sounds and smells. As a result, I learned to cook, and to love it. For me, there's nothing better to do at the end of a long, tiring day than to come home and take out all your frustrations on some poor unsuspecting piece of chicken or an eggplant that never did anybody any harm. In the kitchen I am free to experiment, to try new things, and to revel in the thrill when a new dish comes out right. I love to cook for family, for friends, for that special someone. Why dine alone? Good food, good wine, good conversation and good company - these are the things that can make an evening complete. Especially the right company.

What I'm Looking For

If this describes you, then I'm looking for you: You have a song in your heart, and need someone to sing in harmony with. You know your friendly neighborhood homonyms, and when and where to use them. You have proper respect for apostrophes and the poor, lamented, unappreciated semicolon. You'd enjoy going to my favorite local saloon for a live blues jam. You enjoy wine-tasting. You'll cook with me. You found Waldo. You're my b'sheret.
